Founded
Wilkinson Sword, was founded under another name, in 1772 by Henry Nock in London. Numerous innovations make him the most famous and successful representative of his guild in the British Kingdom. At that time, Nock distinguished himself above all by the production of innovative weapons.
Renamed to James Wilkinson & Son
Henry Wilkinson, who was by then managing the company, introduced the sword production in 1824, as a second line of business besides the weapon production. He gives the company the name “James Wilkinson & Son”. Henry Wilkinson was an all-round genius, whose talents were mainly expressed in engineering and natural sciences. Among other things, he also maintained business relations with the British royal family.

Opening and founding of the Wilkinson Ltd. Company.
The introduction of the Pall Mall Razor
The Pall Mall Patent Roller Safety Shaver – the successor to the 1903 model – enters the market.
Launch of the Empire Razor
Launch of the Empire Razor, based on patents of H. B. Randolph, which was sold very successfully until 1953
Launch of the stainless FASAN blade
Osberghaus KG, based in Solingen, Germany, is launching a stainless “FASAN” blade on the market. This seems to be already coated, although it is unclear today, with what this coating was applied.
Partnership formed between Osberghaus - Wilkinson 1955/56 & foundation Wilkinson Sword GmbH Solingen 1961
The partnership Osberghaus – Wilkinson begins. Osberghaus supplies the production know-how and production equipment to Wilkinson for a license fee. The stainless blade is launched as WILKINSON SWORD EDGE and achieves good sales figures. In 1961 the Wilkinson Sword GmbH was founded in Solingen.
Wilkinson Sword Super Dura Sharp
This was the year that Wilkinson Sword introduced it's first stainless steel razor blades which were higher in quality and provided a better shave to the carbon steel blades of years gone by.
System T70
Launch of the T70, the world’s first razor with “integrated blade”.
Compact
Launch of the Compact, a double-edged system shaver with a blade magazine in the handle.
Protector
Launch of the Protector, a completely new design of double-edged system razor. It was developed and produced in Solingen. Numerous successful derivatives followed, including a ladies’ version with adapted design in 1994.
Quattro Launch
Launch of the Quattro, the world’s first four-edged shaver! Developed and produced in Solingen. In 2006, the first four-edged razor for women followed, the Quattro for Woman, as well as the Quattro Titanium, whose blades are hardened with titanium.
Product Variations Quattro

Launch of the Hydro 3 and Hydro 5
Wilkinson Sword presents the revolutionary Hydro series, which helps to reduce skin irritation and maintain the moisture content of the skin during shaving.
